Tipsnguts is written and built by Nirav Bhatt, author of the Brain Bound Learning publication on Substack. The newsletter carries the thinking; this site carries the tools. Most of them started as a problem worth solving in one sitting: a PDF that asks for its password every time, a form that needed Acrobat, a worksheet that needed a different answer key for every student.
The constraint is deliberate and it is the whole point. Each tool is a single HTML file with no build step, no package manager, and no runtime dependency on anyone's server — every third-party library a tool needs is vendored into the file itself. Because a tool is one self-contained document, your text, images, CSVs and PDFs are processed inside the browser and never uploaded: there is nowhere to upload them to. That is what “guts” means here — the source is the spec.

The newsletter
Most tools ship with a post on Brain Bound Learning explaining how they were built and what broke along the way. Every tool is free to use with no account; downloading a tool's standalone file asks for a free subscription, and “Already a subscriber” is a button, not a paywall.
Tipsnguts stores a little data in your browser: local storage for app state (subscribe status, terms acceptance), and a random per-tab visit ID in session storage so we can count visits without cookies — it is deleted when you close the tab. Analytics are cookieless and aggregate; we do not profile you or track you across sites, and we skip the visit ID if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. Learn more.
